Trip to Emirate Friendship Hospital (EFH) up North

Called up to Gaibanda for one of the ambulance maintenance, it is the first time I am heading up north to the EFH. I knew the LFH from drydock, but this second hospital, much bigger than LFH was very imposing. It is very impressive by its size but also its internal equipment and capacity. EFH catamaran is quite large and allows an efficient ‘flow’ of patients inside. Her layout general arrangement is truly like a small condensed land hospital but still providing any required medical care.

First trip to the Chars as well; those isolated moving islands. Nothing but water and jute, and suddenly a wee village here and there emerging from all the green. First occasion for myself to really see Frienship’s ground of action. Coming from Dhaka it took us about 8 hours drive plus 1 hour by boat to reach the EFH. Trip that those people would have to do the other way round if Friendship wasn’t there…
